Your new company Hays Accountancy and Finance are working in partnership with a prominent public sector body, whom is a hub of local funding to the wider NI Community. This role is initially temporary with the view of a permanent opportunity in due course. You will be joining an established, flexible and supportative finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Staff Officer Accountant will work alongside the Finance team to support the delivery of timely and accurate financial information to the organisation. Your new role Key elements of the role of the Staff Officer Accountant include: Assisting with financial month end, including preparation and review of journal entries, completion of balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis. Preparation of management accounts alongside colleagues on a timely basis to include preparation of financial reporting packs for key stakeholders. Maintenance of relevant financial control systems and functions, suggesting improvements and efficiencies as appropriate. Administration of procurement exercises and maintenance of associated registers and files, in accordance with NI Public Procurement Policy. Financial management of unding projects, including project setup, budgeting, cashflow management and preparation of project reports. Collation of information for internal and external audit, including liaison with auditors and implementation of recommendations. Manage assigned staff within the Finance team. Senior Management Team and Board Support Support the Finance Manager in the delivery of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to the VSS Senior Management Team, Board and external stakeholder. Assist in the development and implementation of the VSS Corporate and Delivery Plan. Facilitate ad hoc requests from the Senior Management Team and Board for reporting and analysis. What you'll need to succeed By the closing date for applications, candidates must be a part-qualified member of one of the professional bodies listed below: The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants Chartered Accountants Ireland The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy The Institute of Certified Public Accounts in Ireland; or equivalentOR A Fully Qualified Accounting Technician A minimum of 2 years' practical experience in all of the following areas: Budget management including analysis of variances and preparation of reports for senior management. Use of Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and reporting, including use of advanced functionality (for example VLOOKUPs and pivot tables). Month end closure to include reconciliation of control accounts and compilation of month end management accounts. Internal or external audit processes, including the implementation of audit recommendations. Working with non-financial departments within an organisation to provide finance support and analysis. Developing processes and procedures to include implementation of best practice arrangements.
