Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Ophthalmology Department at Southlands for a dynamic and focused Band 3 Senior HCA/Ophthalmic Technician.
Main duties include setting up clinics for Ophthalmology; carrying out and recording Visual Acuities; intraocular pressure measurement; auto-refraction; focimeter readings; visual field testing; biometry (macula, optic disc, and corneal imaging).
The role involves working within a multidisciplinary team providing specialist ophthalmic care to patients. A commitment to enroll in and complete the Healthcare Scientist Ophthalmic Imaging Apprenticeship is expected.
Main duties of the job
Set up clinics, perform and record various ophthalmic tests and imaging, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver ophthalmic care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Set up clinics, perform and record visual acuities, intraocular pressure, auto-refraction, focimeter readings, visual field testing, biometry, and imaging. Work within a multidisciplinary team providing ophthalmic care.
Person specification
Knowledge
* At least 1 year of experience working as part of an MDT in the NHS.
* Ophthalmology experience.
Skills
* Understanding of ophthalmology imaging requirements in the modern NHS.
* Experience performing ophthalmic imaging.
Experience
* At least 12 months of ophthalmology eye clinic experience.
* Knowledge of common ophthalmic imaging requirements.
