The role


Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Prevention Department as a Missing from Home Coordinator.


As a Missing from Home Coordinator, you will work in collaboration with partner agencies to provide a liaison function involved in the care of children and adults. You will be required to respond effectively to the challenges of dealing with missing people and undertake preventative actions and relevant safeguarding responsibilities in relation to missing people.


What you’ll do


* Develop and maintain subject matter expertise to provide advice on missing person issues and liaise with internal teams and external agencies.
* Promote multi-agency missing person protocols to internal and external partners.
* Collaborate with multi-agency partners to build strong relationships, address root causes of missing episodes, problem solve to reduce repeat cases, and implement safeguarding strategies, recognising links to exploitation and ensuring records and referrals are completed.
* Work with police and national partners to share risk and vulnerability information, support missing person risk assessments, and challenge ineffective practices.
* Analyse repeat missing person reports and collaborate with agencies to recommend interventions, present findings at multi-agency meetings, and identify opportunities for prevention, safeguarding, and best practice improvement.


What you’ll bring


* Understanding of confidentiality, Data Protection and Freedom of Information issues.
* Successfully complete and undertake further training to achieve Professional Investigation Programme (PIP) level 1 accreditation.
* Experience of working in a multi-agency environment.
* Ability to prioritise and manage competing demands, maintain strong organizational skills, and critically analyse data to conduct audits and reviews.
* Able to interpret and apply guidance to specific activities, committed to continuous improvement with evidence of impact, and skilled at identifying areas for enhancement within the business.

Terms of appointment


This is a permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period.
