About the Opportunity
The Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Team are responsible for transforming and supporting all the force's digital technology.
We are looking for a Senior Communications Engineer with a background in supporting a communications network and infrastructure. We are currently engaged in significant transformational change across our estate, so if you are keen to join a team focused on the future, have exceptional technical skills coupled with the ability to mentor, motivate and inspire those around you, then this is a fantastic chance to be a part of our journey in supporting an emergency service in delivering critical IT systems to front line policing.
If you’ve got a Communications background that involves strong interpersonal skills and a keen attention to detail while delivering excellent customer service, we’re looking for a hands-on Senior Communications Engineer to join the in-house IT team within Staffordshire Police. This role carries line management responsibilities.
Within Operations, the Communications team provide technical excellence across communications, working with VoIP, Radios and Mobile devices.
Key responsibilities include: -
1. Ensuring the security, integrity, availability, and performance of the communications infrastructure
2. Maintaining the current communications infrastructure ensuring that best practices are followed.
3. Developing the communications infrastructure – including on-premise telephony, mobile data, and radio systems.
4. Configuring communications equipment to support new project activity.
5. Working within an established ITIL change process
Essential:
Experience within a communications networking arena and a desire to succeed.
Ability to work both within a team environment and in collaboration with other teams to achieve desired outcomes.
Hold or be working towards a relevant professional qualification
Must be prepared to join an on-call support rota when they have sufficient knowledge of the communications network.
Desirable:
Previous Team Leader experience
Knowledge of the following manufactures product families. Netcall, Redbox, NEC ICCS, Airwave Radio, Samsung Knox and Intune.
Experience with communications monitoring and configuration toolsets, to ensure communications availability and stability.
