Monarch Education is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Computing Teacher to join a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in the B13 area. This is a long-term maternity cover role, starting as soon as possible and continuing throughout the duration of the maternity period. The role is suitable for both experienced teachers and confident ECTs looking to further develop their classroom practice. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality Computing lessons across KS3 and KS4, ensuring students develop essential digital literacy, problem‑solving skills, and a strong understanding of computing principles. You will be working within a collaborative department committed to curriculum excellence and preparing students for a technology-driven future. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured Computing lessons across KS3 and KS4 Teach topics such as programming, algorithms, data representation, and cyber security Create curriculum-aligned lesson plans that support progression and digital competency Assess and monitor student progress, providing clear feedback and targeted intervention Adapt teaching strategies to support diverse learning needs, including SEN and EAL learners Encourage problem‑solving, creativity, and resilience through practical and theoretical activities Promote safe and responsible use of technology in line with school and national policies Collaborate with department staff to develop resources and support wider school initiatives Contribute to extracurricular clubs or computing-related projects where appropriate Requirements: A recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent) A degree in Computing, Computer Science, ICT, or a related subject Experience teaching Computing at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable but not essential) Strong subject knowledge and confidence delivering both practical and theory content Excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational skills A proactive, flexible, and student‑centred approach to teaching Why Join Monarch Education?
