Where will you be working?
We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. This role will be within our water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

About the role
As our Principal Designer, you will be appointed by the client to take responsibility and accountability for signing off pre-construction information.
You will influence how risks to health and safety are managed throughout a project and support sound design of solutions to remove risk.
You will be providing and modifying designs for Construction teams, Contractors, and the Client. You need to understand issues across the water sector asset base, collaborate effectively, and communicate clearly to achieve workable outcomes for construction.
You will research and discover problems, develop insights, and define focused solutions. You will explore and create potential solutions, test them, listen to feedback, and refine accordingly.
You must consider pre-construction information, eliminate foreseeable health and safety risks, and take steps to reduce or control residual risks. Demonstrating the necessary skills, knowledge, experience, and organizational capability is essential.
The role requires you to be innovative, challenge established practices, and continuously develop your technical expertise. Applying sound engineering judgment, understanding design standards, and developing new ways of working are key aspects.
Site visits and regional travel are required.
