We are a growing Private Equity-backed group with a fast-expanding presence in the renewable energy sector. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a commercially driven Head of Finance / Management Accountant to take ownership of the financial operations of one of our rapidly scaling renewables entities. This is a pivotal role offering autonomy, visibility, and the opportunity to help shape the financial future of a high-potential business within the group.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Group Finance Director, the Head of Finance / Management Accountant will be responsible for the end-to-end financial management of the renewables business. You will lead on financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering while ensuring strong financial controls and supporting strategic decision-making in a PE-backed, growth-oriented environment.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on role, enjoys building robust financial processes, and is motivated by the commercial dynamics of a private equity setting.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
1. Produce monthly management accounts, board packs, KPI reporting, and variance analysis.
2. Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, cashflow management, and working capital reporting.
3. Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and liaise with external auditors as required.
Budgeting & Forecasting
4. Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecasting processes.
5. Support financial modelling and scenario analysis to inform strategic initiatives and investment decisions.
6. Monitor financial performance against targets and provide insight-driven commentary.
Commercial & Strategic Support
7. Business partner with operational leadership to drive profitability and growth.
8. Support investment appraisals, project analysis, and PE reporting requirements.
9. Drive cost efficiency, margin optimisation, and commercial visibility across the business.
Systems, Processes & Controls
10. Strengthen financial controls, processes, and reporting frameworks as the business scales.
11. Support ERP and system improvements to enhance data quality and reporting efficiency.
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
12. Act as the finance lead for the renewables entity with responsibility for future finance team development.
13. Present financial insights to senior leadership and Private Equity stakeholders.
About You
Essential
14. Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or finalist.
15. Experience in a management accounting or financial leadership role.
16. Strong financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting capability.
17. Hands-on, proactive approach suited to a growing business environment.
18. Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
19. Experience within private equity, renewables, energy, infrastructure, or related sectors.
20. Exposure to project-based accounting or capex-heavy environments.
21. Experience improving financial systems and processes in a scaling organisation.
