Job Title: Transport Manager

Overview:
We are seeking a highly organised and customer-focused Transport Manager to lead and oversee a large educational organisation’s student transport provision. This is a key operational leadership role responsible for ensuring students travel safely and efficiently to and from campus each day using a fleet of vehicles, taxis and external transport providers.
Due to the operating hours of the service, there may be a requirement to be on call at either end of the day in the event of emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the safe and reliable daily operation of all student transport services
Manage routes, timetables and transport resources to deliver an efficient, customer-focused service
Lead and coordinate transport staff, ensuring effective rota planning and driver allocation
Monitor fleet safety, servicing schedules, fuel usage and compliance
Manage transport budgets, income collection and procurement processes, including contract tendering
Oversee student bus passes, travel permissions and communication regarding updates or delays
Maintain strong relationships with transport operators, ensuring DBS checks, SLAs and contractual compliance
Support off-site trips and oversee taxi accounts, maintaining accurate and auditable records
Monitor student behaviour on transport and liaise with internal teams where required
Ensure safeguarding, Health & Safety, GDPR and equality, diversity & inclusion standards are upheld
The Ideal Candidate:
Previous experience within a busy, customer-focused operational environment
Experience managing transport, fleet, logistics or similar operational services
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Confident in leading and coordinating staff
IT literate with excellent attention to detail and data accuracy
Strong communication skills, able to build relationships across a diverse community
Experience working with large volumes of data and adapting to changing priorities
Minimum Grade C (or equivalent) in GCSE Maths and English
Full UK Driving Licence
