About the role
The main objective of this role is to develop, manage and deliver all council run outdoor events, activities and festivals in Aylesbury ensuring they deliver a safe and enjoyable experience. Manage and oversee the Events team in co‑ordinating, facilitating, contract managing and administering all events per year ensuring they comply to deliver a safer and enjoyable experience meeting statutory and regulatory requirements, Health and Safety and budget. To manage, support and oversee the work of the Town Centre Manager and Community Liaison Officer to deliver projects that will benefit the Community.

Job Responsibilities
* Ensure events, comply with all health & safety requirements and statutory and regulatory requirements.
* Lead the Events framework and be a subject expert in the field of events and the health and safety and logistical practices involved.
* Liaise with Aylesbury Town Council (ATC) departments and external stakeholders to ensure planning and delivery of events covers all aspects of event planning and demonstrated through event management plans.
* Identify possible new events and work with organisations/commercial operators to develop proposals.
* Oversee all works and events carried out by the Events Team to ensure events are delivered to the standards expected.
* Represent ATC within the command structure of events organised by the Events Team and the initial point of contact for any emergency and incident.
* Oversee the management and monitoring of events and communities’ budget and ensure controlled reduction of costs and maximisation of income to meet targets.
* Proactively seek sponsorship of events through monetary and time-in-kind donations.
* Oversee and negotiate terms and conditions for commercial supplier contracts held.
* Oversee YTC initiatives and work involved with Youth.
* To create, through direction, development and management, a proactive Events and Communities team who are leaders in their respective areas.
* Manage complex complaints and contentious problems with events understanding the options to make informed decisions.
* Develop productive and strategic relationships with external organisations, suppliers and providers to ensure the most effective delivery of the Council’s Community Objectives for Events.
* Provide line management to the Events & Communities Team, celebrating success and addressing performance issues promptly ensuring continuous feedback.
* Pro‑actively develop the service, identifying new areas of commercialisation and recommending changes in an engaging manner using data to evidence these.
* To accurately record discussions and decisions of the Communities Committee and work to ensure smooth production of agendas, minutes, notes and follow-up on actions as the Committee Clerk.
* To ensure the Events Team assist and support events being delivered across the Council.
* Perform a comprehensive review of each event to evaluate its success and identify any improvements for the future.
* Recruit and manage volunteers for events, including photographers and event crew, ensuring all recruitment and safeguarding policies are adhered to.
* Review any policies directly relating to communities and events on a bi‑annual basis, make amendments as required and present to Policy Committee for approval.

Person Specification
* Experience of managing staff and leading teams in delivering high quality events and projects.
* Must be a team player with strong leadership skills and ability to work with others to achieve shared objectives.
* Experience working in partnership with other organisations businesses councils and agencies.
* A thorough knowledge and understanding of licensing laws, safeguarding, health and safety and legislations pertaining to public events.
* Ability to communicate with people (both written and oral) in a form and manner that is consistent with their level of understanding, culture, background and preferred ways of communicating.
* Full, current, valid UK driving licence including business cover.
* Flexibility to attend weekend and evening events and meetings. During events, this involves manual handling such as moving boxes and packing away event equipment.
