Job Summary
We’re looking for an experienced mental health nurse or practitioner to join the mental health team at HMP Haverigg, working with sex offenders in a CAT D establishment. This rewarding post offers opportunities to practice a full range of psychiatric skills and interventions. The clinical lead role includes assessments and interventions, ongoing assessment of needs, risk assessment, relevant interventions, and discharge planning coordination.
Main Duties
You will provide compassionate mental health care, assess needs reflecting individual circumstances, offer relevant interventions, and support discharge planning. Strong coordination and planning skills, decision making based on comprehensive health and risk assessments, and a person‑centred approach are essential. You must be innovative, flexible, and able to engage with patients with complex needs.

Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
* RN(MH), RN(LD) or registered practitioner with current professional registration (e.g., NMC)
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
* Completion of MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education
* Clinical Supervisor certification within agreed timescales
* Recognised sign‑off mentor status within agreed timescales
* Qualified practitioner in CBT, DBT, PSI, dual diagnosis, etc. (within agreed timescale)
* 18 months post‑qualifying experience including sign‑off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework
* Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ Level 2 (or equivalent)
* Non‑medical prescriber status within agreed timescale
Qualifications (Desirable)
* Leadership or management qualification
* Post‑graduate qualification in a relevant area
Experience (Essential)
* Significant experience working with people with mental ill‑health in a community setting
* Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
* Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers
* Good understanding of the Offender Health pathway
* Quality improvement activities
Experience (Desirable)
* Leadership or management experience
* Experience in a secure environment
* Experience providing clinical supervision
* Experience of mentoring students on practice placement

* Provide leadership and monitor, coordinate and prioritise team activities
