Overview
As the Team Lead for the Paediatric Diabetic Nursing Service, you will lead Band 6 and Band 5 diabetes team members and work closely with Paediatric diabetes consultants and the multidisciplinary team. You will support the development of your skills and those of your team within the wider outpatient and paediatric settings.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will:
* Lead clinics, teaching and establish pump starts.
* Take the lead in developing the diabetic service and build stronger links between Paediatric and Adult services.
* Support children and young people needing diabetic care, including leading care planning and advocating for patients and families.
* Facilitate multidisciplinary meetings and ensure services are accessible, inclusive and responsive to individual needs.
* Work autonomously, plan and manage workload effectively and provide expert clinical care within the diabetic service.
* Teach and support colleagues across the Trust, sharing knowledge and promoting consistent, high‑quality care.
* Advise and liaise with professional colleagues in both secondary and primary care to ensure optimum coordination of care and initiate changes in clinical management where appropriate.
Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role you will have:
* Experience leading diabetes care teams in a paediatric setting.
* Strong clinical knowledge of paediatric diabetes management and pump therapy.
* Excellent communication skills, able to liaise with a wide range of healthcare professionals and patients.
* Ability to work autonomously and manage your own workload.
* Commitment to teaching, knowledge sharing and providing high‑quality care.
