Senior Estimator
Location: UK (Remote/Hybrid) - Monthly visit to Dawlish office & UK site travel
Salary: Circa £80,000 + Company Car/Car Allowance + Bonus + Benefits
Tank Recruitment's client is looking for an experienced Senior Estimator to lead estimating activities on complex marine civil engineering projects across the UK. This role will involve preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for projects including ports, harbours, docks, coastal defence, marine piling and dredging works. You'll work closely with engineering, commercial and operations teams while supporting pricing strategy and high-quality tender submissions. The role is open to candidates based anywhere in the UK, including those willing to relocate or travel from Scotland or other regions. The successful candidate will attend the Dawlish office approximately once per month to maintain team collaboration, alongside UK site visits as required.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead preparation of detailed cost estimates for large-scale marine infrastructure projects.
* Analyse drawings, specifications and project scope to determine resources and costs.
* Develop estimates covering materials, labour, plant, subcontractors and specialist marine equipment.
* Coordinate bid submissions and support pricing strategy discussions.
* Review subcontractor quotations and maintain strong supplier relationships.
* Conduct UK site visits to support tender development.
* Support and mentor the estimating team alongside the Head of Estimating.
* Contribute to improvements in estimating processes and pre-construction activities.
Requirements
* Significant experience estimating marine infrastructure or heavy civil engineering projects.
* Strong marine civils background is essential.
* Previous experience in a Senior Estimator or leadership-level estimating role.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and contract documents.
* Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Full UK driving licence.
