Are you a Key Stage 4 teacher looking for a more flexible, meaningful way to support young people in education?
We’re looking for compassionate and experienced KS4 educators in Wigan to work 1:1 with students who are currently outside mainstream education. These learners often need academic catch-up, guidance with GCSE preparation when appropriate, and support in planning their next steps into college, training, or work.
Teaching takes place in calm, focused spaces such as students’ homes, libraries, or local community centres. You may also work alongside schools or other services to support a young person’s wider education plan.

Your role will involve:

Delivering 1:1 sessions in core subjects (especially English, Maths, and Science)
*
Supporting GCSE preparation when needed

Helping students prepare for life after school – whether that’s college, apprenticeships, or employment

Teaching in safe, quiet spaces such as homes, libraries, or community venues
*
Building trust and engagement using a trauma-informed, relationship-based approach
*
Working closely with families, schools, and other professionals to support a young person’s progress
What we’re looking for:
*
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
*
Experience teaching KS4 and delivering GCSE-level content
*
An understanding of the needs of young people with SEND, SEMH or EBSA
*
A compassionate, flexible approach to teaching
*
Confidence in working independently while communicating effectively with other services
This role is ideal for:
