Salary
£35,200 - £52,800 plus car/allowance, performance‑related bonus and a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The role
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to join our Onshore Capital Delivery team. This role is designed to support the successful completion of ongoing T2 projects and contribute to our new T3 portfolio, alongside major new onshore transmission infrastructure projects across the East of Scotland.
You will
* Support the management of a multi‑skilled project team, contributing to the delivery of transmission projects across both development and construction phases.
* Work closely with the Project Manager to plan, coordinate, and monitor project activities, ensuring tasks and deliverables are completed on schedule. Engage effectively with stakeholders, ensuring project needs and objectives are clearly understood while demonstrating SSE’s core leadership values.
* Manage allocated work packages with a focus on efficiency and value, assist with budget planning, and support the preparation of financial reports. Play an important role in maintaining cost control and promoting commercial awareness throughout the project lifecycle.
* Contribute to the preparation of tender documentation and contract specifications. Assist with tender assessments, support commercial negotiations, and help manage ongoing contracts while building knowledge of the Large Capital Projects Governance process.
* Promote a strong safety culture by developing an understanding of safety management systems and best practice, ensuring project teams operate in line with SSE’s safety expectations and values.
You have
* Experience working in a project environment, ideally within construction and/or engineering.
* Knowledge of health and safety requirements, including CDM Regulations and relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
* An understanding of NEC3 contract administration and project programming tools such as Primavera P6.
* A proven ability to work collaboratively within teams, bringing enthusiasm, strong problem‑solving skills, and a proactive approach to challenges.
A full, current driving licence, with the ability to travel and attend site regularly.
