Our Birmingham corporate tax team is seeking an Assistant Manager. You will join our growing team to support the expansion of our tax practice across the Midlands, focusing on the mid-market and OMBs. We offer excellent opportunities to develop your portfolio, build strong client relationships, and contribute to domestic and cross-border tax projects.

The team assists clients in navigating complex tax landscapes by providing tailored solutions to manage risks and anticipate future changes.

Role Overview

As an Assistant Manager in our private capital corporate tax team, you will:

* Manage a portfolio of clients, including owner-managed businesses, private equity-backed companies, and large groups, advising on their corporation tax matters. You will handle annual compliance, specialist claims, and tax advisory projects such as project financing and transactions.
* Supervise and review work prepared by junior team members and report directly to Partners and Directors.
* Deliver corporate tax compliance, tax advisory, and audit of tax services. You will oversee your client portfolio, liaise with audit colleagues, and serve as the main client contact. You will also coach junior staff, seek new business opportunities, and participate in pitches and proposals.
* Organize tax work delivery and problem-solving daily. Building internal and external networks will enhance your communication skills and collaboration. You should be commercially minded with a clear understanding of client needs.


Candidate Requirements

The minimum criteria include:

* Qualified (CA, ATT, CTA) with experience in corporate tax.
* Strong knowledge of UK corporation tax legislation and international tax concepts.
* Experience supervising staff and reviewing work in a tax environment.
* Proven ability to manage compliance portfolios and handle tax accounting or audit of tax.
* Excellent communication skills to support team growth and client service.
* Flexibility to meet deadlines and manage client commitments.
