Salary £32,000 – £38,000 per annum (dependent on certification and experience)
45 hours per week
Standard hours: 07:00 – 16:30, Monday to Friday
About the Highways Operative Role
Join our clients highways maintenance team delivering high-quality, safe and efficient services across Oxfordshire’s road network.
You’ll work on varied tasks from routine patching and gully cleaning to installing signage, lighting and supporting traffic management schemes.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work outdoors and takes pride in keeping roads safe for everyone.
Key Responsibilities for Highways Operative
Carry out general highways maintenance and repair activities
Operate small plant and equipment safely
Assist with setting up traffic management and signing, lighting and guarding
Monitor and report defects to supervisors
Follow safe systems of work and use personal protective equipment correctly
Collaborate with team members and subcontractors to meet project deadlinesRequirements for Highways Operative
Must Haves
Valid UK driving licenceDesirable a combination of the following
HGV licence (Class C)
G39
NVQ in Highways Engineering (HEA)
Manual handling certification
Crane operator licence
First Aid at Work certificate
NRSWA Street Works accreditationBenefits
