Job Purpose: Our client is seeking a proactive, strategic and hands-on IT Manager to lead technology operations at their Head Office in Wheathampstead and across multiple sites. This role is pivotal in ensuring robust IT infrastructure, seamless communication between field and office teams, and the implementation of digital tools that drive efficiency and compliance in construction projects. The IT Manager, assisted by the IT Support Engineer, will be responsible for providing essential 1st and 2nd line IT support services to internal users based both at our Head Office and Multiple Sites across London and the Northern Home Counties. You will manage and assist with both proactive and reactive troubleshooting of hardware and software issues, maintaining systems to ensure the smooth running of IT services across the business. Key Responsibilities: * Develop and execute the company’s IT roadmap aligned with business goals * Identify opportunities for digital transformation across construction workflows * Work with the Board and Process Manager to create and maintain IT Policies for the business * Oversee network architecture, hardware, software and cloud services * Ensure reliable connectivity and data access across remote sites and Head Office * Manage Printers and Printing Solutions * Manage IP Telephony system at Head Office * Manage mobile device deployment and rugged tech solutions for field teams * Manage data backup and Disaster Recovery solutions * Implement and monitor cybersecurity protocols to protect sensitive project data * Liaise with our chosen partner to ensure compliance, so that our annual Cyber Essentials Certification is granted * Ensure compliance with GDPR and industry-specific regulations * Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate pre-construction and construction management software (e.g., Deltek PIM, Adobe Suite, InDesign, BlueBeam, Autodesk, Asta PowerProject) * Support Deltek PIM (Project Information Management) A cloud-based solution that centralises and manages project-related documents, emails and drawings * Team Leadership & Vendor Management * Lead and mentor our IT Support Engineer * Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors and service providers * Troubleshooting & Support * Provide proactive hands-on support and training to staff across the business * Resolve technical issues swiftly to minimise downtime on-site and in-office * Escalate to third party providers when necessary * Qualifications & Experience: * A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent in a related field * Proven experience in IT management and support, within construction or engineering sectors * An understanding of construction-specific software and mobile technology In depth knowledge on a broad range of products and services including, but not limited to; Dell PowerEdge Servers Dell Latitude Laptops MS Windows Server 2022 MS Azure MS Entra ID MS Active Directory VMware virtual machines Veeam backup Windows 11 Professional Microsoft Office 365 Microsoft 365 email Microsoft Exchange Microsoft SharePoint Microsoft OneDrive Cybersecurity Cyber Essentials WatchGuard Firewalls Anti Malware Email filtering Web filtering Ninja Remote Endpoint Management Networking Network printing Cloud storage and computing IP telephony Mobile phones and Mobile networks Construction specific software solutions (eg. Deltek PIM, InDesign, Asta PowerProject, AutoDesk etc.). Familiarity with cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID) Experience with remote site connectivity and rugged hardware solutions Skills & Attributes: Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities Strong communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical teams Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven environment Strategic thinker with hands-on technical expertise Comfortable working in a busy office environment Benefits: Competitive salary (negotiable depending on experience) Bonus related to company performance Company vehicle or Car allowance, including business mileage for site visits Auto Enrolment Pension scheme with 4% employer contributions Opportunities for professional development and certifications
