Engineering Supervisor (Days) – TieTalent
Location: Spalding
Reports to: Engineering Manager
The key focus areas are as follows:
* Create a maintenance plan each week for all PPM and corrective work orders and allocate engineers to the task
* Work closely with the engineers, store manager, Supervisors, team leaders and maintenance manager to ensure parts/materials are ordered to complete the jobs
* Oversee the abattoir and support the day shift engineers
* Coordinate with OEMs on service contracts ensuring date and times are agreed throughout the year and communicate to the team
* Ensure accurate records are kept for all maintenance work completed
* Continually review PPMs to meet site requirements to improve reliability
* Carry out 5 why RCA and root-cause analysis on major downtime and implement permanent fixes
* Work with store manager to carry out stock criticality to ensure we have the correct spares for each asset
* Drive continuous improvement to improve productivity and reliability on assets
* Manage PPM engineers to ensure they remain focused
* Provide daily updates on Maintenance compliance to the team and address misses that need picking up
Responsibilities:
* Recommend and carry out improvement projects to improve the reliability and safety of assets and increase uptime
* Carry out 5 why analyses and RCAs with the team or support other team members RCA to ensure corrective actions are carried out
* Drive continuous improvement projects within the team to improve productivity and reliability
* Continually review PPMs following breakdowns to ensure the work completed is adding value
* Adhere to the group health and safety policy and follow all company policies and procedures to ensure welfare and safety
* Actively work to reduce negative environmental impact (e.g., reduction of waste, recycling)
* Manage PPM engineers and fabrication engineers to ensure their roles are focused and adding value
* Create the maintenance plan for the week ahead, coordinating with all stakeholders to ensure priority work is planned
* Ensure all paperwork is printed and ready for the week ahead including contractor paperwork
* Track completion of the PMS plan and highlight any potential issues
* Review and process work requests to ensure timely completion
* Update outstanding work orders and report updated planned completion dates
* Coordinate parts ordering with the Stores Manager to ensure parts are on order and planned into the work when delivered
* Track open work orders to ensure timely closure
* Create reports of open work orders and actions required to avoid misses
* Work with OEMs on service contract planning to ensure work is planned throughout the year
* Keep accurate records of equipment serviced by OEMs
* Highlight issues where correct process has not been followed and train accordingly
* Support the department engineering pillars and collaborate with site teams to achieve goals
* Support the Engineering Stores Manager with day-to-day tasks as required
Skills & Knowledge:
* Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and techniques
* Able to cope under pressure and adapt to peak workloads
* Able to use, create, understand, and act upon trends from management operating systems
* Able to identify and own problems through to resolution; reflect on processes to share learning
* Ability to gain respect and credibility in areas of expertise with site teams
* Computer literate
* Experience in leading others, including driving performance
* Analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently with a strong sense of responsibility
* Must have a challenge mindset and a positive outlook on driving change
Qualifications:
* Time-served Multiskilled Engineer
* Food Safety Level 3
* RCA training
