Overview
We are excited to welcome a dynamic Consultant in General Medicine with good general medical experience to join our enthusiastic and dynamic group of Physicians at Frimley Health Foundation NHS Trust. If the right applicant has a concurrent specialty CCT, we could discuss the option of some potential clinic/procedural time depending on specialty, this would be subject to negotiation.
Role and Responsibilities
We are looking to expand our medical workforce within the medical teams to run a stable 27 bedded general medical ward and a variable number of medical outliers in other zones as the need arises over winter (may be up to 35-40 patients) with 2 consultants. These would be relatively short stay patients so would need dynamic individuals with good general medical experience and ability to work closely with the MDT and specialty colleagues as necessary to ensure efficient patient journeys and high-quality care. The right applicant would need to provide good clinical supervision and support of a team of resident doctors, but not formal educational supervision. The post-holder will cross-cover essential services when colleagues are on leave and will be expected to agree a formal job plan with the Chief of Medicine indicating the number of programmed activities within 1 month of taking up post.
Control of Work and Planning
The post-holder is accountable to the Chief of Service (managerially) and professionally accountable to the Chief Medical Officer. The successful candidate will be expected to cross-cover essential services when colleagues are on leave and to agree a formal job plan with the Chief of Medicine indicating the number of fixed sessions within 1 month of taking up post. Modification of the job plan will be discussed on a personal basis if a candidate is unable to work full-time and is eligible to be considered for this post.
Terms and Conditions
The appointment is subject to a satisfactory medical report from the Trust's Occupational Health department. You will be paid in accordance with the Terms and Conditions for Consultant Medical Staff and assimilated to the salary scale taking account of all relevant Consultant service. Annual leave must be applied for at least six weeks in advance and approved by the Clinical Unit Lead, with cross cover consideration from the other Consultant covering this unit. The annual entitlement is thirty days per year.
