On behalf of a client, we are looking for a Chief Officer / SDPO. Applicants must hold a UK passport or UK work permit. Role Overview: The Chief Officer (SDPO) is responsible for the safe and efficient daily operation of the vessel, supervising deck crew and cargo operations, and assisting the Master in all navigational and maritime duties. As the Safety and Dynamic Positioning Officer, they ensure DP operations, vessel positioning, and marine safety comply with company and regulatory standards, supporting offshore wind farm installation and maintenance activities. Key Responsibilities: Operational Duties: Act as Deputy to the Master, assuming command when required. Serve as SDPO, responsible for safe and efficient Dynamic Positioning operations during turbine installation, maintenance, and jack-up operations. Plan and supervise deck, crane, and cargo operations, including loading, stowage, and lifting of project equipment. Oversee ballast control, jacking operations coordination, and marine systems monitoring. Maintain navigational watch and ensure compliance with COLREGS and company standing orders. Safety and Compliance: Serve as Shipboard Safety Officer, promoting a strong safety culture and adherence to the ISM Code, IMCA, and OCIMF standards. Conduct regular safety drills, toolbox talks, and risk assessments. Ensure compliance with flag state, class, and client-specific QHSE requirements. Maintain up-to-date records for drills, permits, and safety inspections. Leadership & Crew Management: Lead deck crew, Bosun, and ABs, ensuring high performance, training, and compliance with company policies. Liaise with vessel management, clients, and marine coordinators on operational planning and safety. Mentor junior officers and contribute to professional development. Technical & DP Operations Operate and maintain vessel's DP control systems, ensuring precise positioning and quick response to contingencies. Maintain DP logbooks, event records, and DP system maintenance reports. Participate in FMEA testing, DP trials, and audits. Qualifications & Requirements: Essential: STCW II/2 Chief Mate unlimited or Master Valid DP Operator Certificate (Unlimited) Minimum 2 years' experience as Chief Officer / SDPO on DP2 or DP3 offshore vessels Experience on Jack-Up or Heavy Lift / Installation vessels preferred Advanced GMDSS, ECDIS, and BRM certifications Valid offshore medical (ENG1 or equivalent) and BOSIET / FOET CA-EBS certification UK national or a UK Work Permit holder Desirable: Experience in offshore wind farm installation, cable-laying, or WTG operations Familiarity with Kongsberg / Navis / Rolls-Royce DP systems Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills Proven ability to manage deck operations under tight project schedules Core Competencies: Strong understanding of marine operations and DP systems Excellent safety awareness and risk management Effective leadership and crew coordination Proficiency in navigational systems and jack-up operational support Commitment to QHSE standards and continuous improvement Additional Information: Vessel Type : Offshore Windfarm Jack-Up Installation Vessel (JI / IJV) Location : Offshore UK Sector (must hold a British Passport or hold a UK work Permit Rotation : Typically 6 weeks on/off Reports To : Master / Offshore Vessel Manager Department : Deck / Marine Operations
