Senior Social Worker – Edge of Care Team
We are excited to offer a fantastic opening for a Senior Social Worker within Barnsley's Edge of Care Team. This full-time, ongoing opportunity allows you to work intensively with children and young people aged 10-18 who are at immediate risk of entering the care system. The role offers a competitive hourly rate of £35 and the chance to make a meaningful impact by transforming young lives and strengthening family ties within the community. Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with children and families to prevent relationship breakdowns and avoid entry into care
2. Implement evidence-based interventions through individual and family sessions
3. Conduct detailed assessments and develop child-centered care plans
4. Engage with families via home visits, community sessions, and multi-agency meetings
5. Build trusting relationships with trauma-affected children
6. Provide guidance to colleagues on complex family issues and trauma-informed practices
7. Participate in evaluating and improving the Edge of Care service
8. Work effectively with multi-agency partners
9. Maintain accurate case records in compliance with guidelines
10. Uphold Barnsley Children’s Services’ values prioritizing child safety and well-being
Minimum requirements:
1. Social Work qualification (Degree/Diploma) and registration with Social Work England
2. Post-qualifying experience with children and families in statutory or support settings
3. Expertise in trauma, neurodiversity, and resistant behaviors
4. Knowledge of family dynamics, child protection, and legal frameworks
5. Effective communication skills and engagement with families
6. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
7. Enhanced DBS clearance and valid UK driving license
