Position Summary:
We are seeking a thoughtful, forward-thinking Assistant Controller to support the continued evolution of our accounting department as we scale to meet ambitious growth goals. This role is ideal for a technically strong, tech-savvy professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-transaction environment and is motivated by the opportunity to enhance systems, support team development, and make a meaningful impact across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
* Partner with senior leadership to further develop a scalable, modern accounting platform that supports growth, operational complexity, and strategic expansion.
* Manage and continuously improve close and reporting processes to ensure timely, accurate financials without sacrificing quality.
* Serve as a hands-on partner and resource to the accounting team—mentoring colleagues, sharing expertise, and fostering a culture of service, accountability, and growth.
* Help maintain a strong, adaptive control environment that balances compliance with the practical needs of a dynamic, entrepreneurial business.
* Provide thoughtful, transparent, accurate and timely reporting and insight to internal and external stakeholders.
* Actively identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and scale accounting workflows and reporting.
* Play a key role in integrating newly acquired entities by supporting process alignment and system integration while fostering a collaborative, unified culture.
* Collaborate cross-functionally to implement firmwide process changes that support both operational control and business performance goals.
* Own and manage key accounting projects with clear communication, strong follow-through, and a focus on delivering measurable results.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree, ideally in accounting or finance.
* 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with a blend of public accounting and high-growth, private company roles; industry experience in multi-location retail or high-volume distribution is strongly preferred.
* Technically strong with deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.
* Demonstrated success in acquisition integration, process improvement, and cross-functional project leadership.
* Tech-forward mindset with experience implementing or optimizing ERP and reporting systems; advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
* Passionate about mentoring and developing others; able to upskill a team and create a culture of accountability, service, and continuous learning· Professional maturity to take ownership, operate with transparency, and focus on driving outcomes with a willingness to be ‘hands on’ when needed.
