Overview
Ellis Ward is an acute admissions ward for patients requiring assessment and treatment for complex needs such as psychosis, depression, bipolar disorder and personality disorder. The 18‑bed mixed acute inpatient ward in Tolworth Hospital is open to referrals 24/7 365 days a year.
About the role
You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of mental health nurses, health care assistants, occupational therapists, activity co‑ordinators and psychiatrists. Your responsibilities include:
* Formulating individual treatment plans and conducting daily risk and mental state assessments of patients with a variety of mental health diagnoses.
* Taking the lead on admissions, discharges and liaising with community mental health services, families, carers and other third parties.
* Working holistically with service users to deliver patient‑centred care and aiming for safe community discharges.
* Co‑ordinating high‑quality safe nursing care, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council code of conduct.
Qualifications and experience
Band 5 nursing roles are only open to staff with a nursing registration obtained as a result of completing a qualification recognised by the NMC. You should be passionate about mental health, work collaboratively with service users and families and be able to work in line with the Recovery Model and the Trust’s values.
