Overview
As a Band 7 you will lead the clinical service, providing ward based advanced clinical assessments, patient interventions and develop management plans with the goal to halt or reverse clinical deterioration. You will also have an opportunity to help shape and develop the service taking on managerial and leadership responsibilities to ensure that the service evolves to meet our patients and service user's needs.
Responsibilities
* Lead the clinical service with ward based advanced clinical assessments and patient interventions.
* Develop management plans aimed at halting or reversing clinical deterioration.
* Shape and develop the service through managerial and leadership responsibilities to meet patient and service user needs.
* Prioritise the workload of the team as shift co-ordinator.
* Provide both formal and informal teaching to staff at all levels.
* Resource management including rota coordination and sickness management.
* Contribute to the ongoing development of the service and team members using staff development plans and appraisals.
* Apply advanced clinical assessment skills and knowledge of common clinical situations across specialties within the trust (e.g., management of hypoxia with nasal high flow oxygen therapy, non-invasive ventilation, tracheostomy care and weaning, sepsis management, and transfer of the critically unwell patient).
Qualifications and Experience
* Previous Critical Care Outreach experience.
* Degree and critical care course (or equivalent).
* Ability to prioritise workload and perform as shift co-ordinator.
About NUH CCOT
An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of the Band 7 team within the Adult Critical Care Outreach Team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH). NUH provides a diverse and comprehensive CCOT service to all adult patients within NUH, including specialities such as Neurosurgery, Haematology, Major Trauma, Renal and Infectious diseases. The CCOT covers more than 80 wards and clinical areas across City and Queens Medical Centre campuses. The team is multi-professional, consisting of Band 7 and 6 nurses, specialised physiotherapists and CCOT assistants.
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is a large, teaching Trust with a Major Trauma Centre for the East Midlands and a busy emergency department. It continuously develops staff to maintain high standards and aims for Magnet recognition.
