Offer description

Salary on appointment will be £38,249 per annum, with an annual increment up to £45,413 per annum.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Associate to join the School of Computing Science to conduct research on a pioneering project exploring the technical, societal, legal, and policy implications of artificial intelligence (AI) in Higher Education and workforce development.

As a Senior Research Associate, you will be required to conduct qualitative data collection and analysis, draft research reports, undertake policy analysis, and engage with stakeholders to inform the development of responsible AI development and governance.

You will have an advanced degree (e.g., MSc with prior research experience, PhD, or near completion (within 6 months of appointment)) in the Social Sciences—such as Education, Social Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Law, Healthcare, or a related discipline—or equivalent professional experience. You should also have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to analyze and interpret data and work effectively as part of a team. Advanced skills directly related to this research area would be advantageous.

This full-time post is available on a fixed-term basis for up to six months.

UEA offers a variety of flexible working options, and although this role is advertised as full-time, we encourage applications from individuals who prefer a flexible working pattern, including annualised hours, compressed hours, part-time, job share, term-time only, and/or hybrid working. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.

We strongly encourage applicants from women and welcome applications from all protected groups as defined by the Equality Act 2010. Appointment will be made on merit.

Further information on our benefits package, including 44 days of annual leave (inclusive of Bank Holidays and additional University Customary days, pro-rata for part-time), can be found on our benefits page.

Closing date: 28 May 2025

The University holds an Athena Swan Silver Institutional Award in recognition of our advancement towards gender equality.
