Project Accountant
Location: Dorset Innovation Park, Winfrith
Duration: 12 months contract
We are seeking a Project Accountant to join the ATLAS ELEKTRONIK UK Finance team. The role involves supporting the business with financial guidance and developing tools to predict, report, and maintain project and financial performance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
* Professional accounting qualifications (e.g., ACCA / CIMA) preferred but not essential if relevant experience is demonstrated;
* Experience in Project Accounting, with knowledge of IFRS15 and contract accounting;
* Operational/financial experience, ideally within engineering, defence, or production sectors;
* Strong IT skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to improve processes and reporting;
* Knowledge of SAP 4HANA, SharePoint, and Microsoft Project is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain project, contract, and cost data within ERP systems; prepare and control contract-related invoices;
* Manage project accounting by setting and monitoring financial performance targets;
* Collaborate with budget holders to assist decision-making, provide guidance, and report performance deviations;
* Apply appropriate revenue recognition policies for long-term contracts;
* Deliver accurate and timely reports on orders, revenue, and profit;
* Support bid reviews with financial advice on rates, profit, cash flow, and costs;
* Prepare general ledger journals and maintain records in compliance with standards and policies;
* Assist in asset, stock, and work-in-progress valuation and control;
* Provide periodic financial and operational performance reports;
* Contribute to the development of project accounting tools, reports, and processes.
