Job Description:
Our Principal Consultant Robin Thomas is looking for a multi-skilled technician experienced in building assemblies and special purpose machinery, to join an award-winning design and manufacturing business and world leader in packaging innovation and technology.
Discretionary bonus | 37-hour working week (Mon to Thu 7.45am - 4.15pm, Fri 7.45am - 12.45pm) | Overtime available
As a Mechanical Assembly Fitter, you'll be working within the production team in a hands-on role, responsible for building, setting up, and testing capping presses and sealing systems.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Fit and assemble sub-assemblies and incorporate these into complete machines
* Build pneumatic equipment and pipework used to control the machines
* Build cap transport systems
* Ensure all parts and assemblies are built to drawings, correctly fitted, and assembled in accordance with the agreed tolerances and procedures
* Build, set up, run, and test completed systems in readiness for final testing
* Final straightening and fitting of air rails following welding
* Cutting, forming, and setting up for welding air rails (6mm stainless steel tube) used in cap transportation systems
* Pneumatic assembly and pipework
* Carry out any such tasks as required from time to time, provided they are within the competence of the postholder.
Skills & Experience
* Experience building assemblies and special purpose machinery, ensuring assemblies are built to drawing and are aligned correctly
* General mechanical hand fitting skills
* Fitting bearings
* Alignment of shafts
* Marking out, drilling, and tapping
* Able to work to pneumatic drawings
* Machining skills; such as turning and milling (occasionally required)
Engineering qualifications
* Served an apprenticeship with a relevant business
* Testing, installation, and commissioning experience
* Welding skills (Stainless/Aluminium) highly desirable
