Overview
The successful person will be responsible for representing Mainprize Offshore Limited at the shipbuilder’s yard ensuring that the new builds progress on time, on budget and are delivered in accordance with the company’s best interests.
You will be supporting our fleet of Class approved Crew Transfer Vessels based in a number of locations including ports in the UK, Western Europe and the Baltic region.
You will play a pivotal role providing proactive maintenance ensuring the safety and reliability of all company vessels. It may be necessary to sail on short trips with the vessel to help diagnose reported issues.
Ideally you will have an STCW qualification as a time served ships electrician or be able to demonstrate service with a shore based marine electrical engineer.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Provide support to fleet vessels on day-to-day maintenance of marine electrical, electronic systems;
* Carry out where possible repairs/ rectification work;
* Evaluate the planned maintenance schedule for the fleet electrical and electronic systems; including power generation, backup power sources, electrical switchboard and fire detection systems;
* Conduct and schedule proactive condition checks on all vessels within the fleet – this will include spending time with each of the vessels;
* Planning of any major repairs;
* Conduct fault finding and earth faults;
* Carry out electrical insulation surveys;
* Create a data base of information for each individual vessel;
* Identify any electrical fault trends evident across the fleet;
* Attend dockings when needed; and
* Long-term planning and cost estimate for maintenance and/or replacement of electrical equipment on board our fleet.
Requirements
* NVQ Level 3 / Diploma / Degree in Marine Electrical Engineering, Marine Construction, Systems Engineering or equivalent.
* 3-4 years’ experience as a ship electrician or strong ability to demonstrate service/experience with a shore-based marine electrical engineering.
* STCW qualifications
* Experience with OS-HSC CTV/craft vessels.
* Willingness to travel overseas as directed by company for vessel visits, inspections, port calls, docking, maintenance assistance, etc.
* Flexibility and availability to be ‘on-call’ in case of emergencies.
Work Location:
* Hybrid/remote with a minimum of at least 2 in-office days per month in the Company’s Head Office (Scarborough, UK) - dependent on location
Schedule
* Monday to Thursday (8:30 am – 5:00 pm); Friday (8.30am – 2.30pm)
* Additional hours may be required to achieve deadlines with time given back in lieu where applicable.
