Overview

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

We are looking to recruit a Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist into the Link Housing practitioner role working jointly with the Highland Council and within the Community Occupational Therapy team in Inverness.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within an established team of Occupational Therapists within our Integrated team as well as develop links and practice with the Highland Council housing team. Work is primarily with client who have physical disability but experience in other areas is beneficial as we provide a holistic approach to treatment. Within the role you will be responsible for working closely with the Highland Council housing team looking at void properties, new builds and supporting clients moving into accessible housing who require adaptions and OT intervention. You will also provide guidance and support across the Inverness district to OTs and other professionals around major adaptions.

Skills in prioritisation, flexibility and teamwork are essential and there is an expectation to provide clinical support to senior and junior staff.

You will be expected to act independently to provide a full comprehensive service of assessment, diagnosis, treatment/appropriate management, onward referral, and discharge to a range of patients referred to the service.

You will work within Multidisciplinary Teams; supervise Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioners, and Occupational Therapy students. Regular supervision is provided (including peer supervision opportunities) and opportunities for on-going professional development are encouraged.

A Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy is required as is current HCPC registration.

You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations and patient residences, so a full current driving license is essential.

A variation of hours or Job share would be considered and should be discussed at interview.
