Job summary
There has never been a more exciting time to join East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, and we are looking to appoint a Director of Financial Sustainability. This opportunity to join our leadership team comes at a crucial time as we shape and deliver our strategy and work towards better outcomes for patients.
This critical role will support the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) in influencing and driving the strategic development of the Trust. Reporting to the CFO, you will be involved in developing near-term and medium-term strategic plans to support effective decision-making, helping to ensure the Trust can meet its strategic objectives for patient care and improvement while returning to a balanced budget.
We seek a candidate with an outstanding track record of success within the NHS or wider public sector. You will possess first-class financial leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to forge effective relationships across internal and external stakeholders. You will be an exemplary ambassador for the Trust and have the political acumen to support the Trust's interests regionally. The successful candidate could be a financially qualified professional or have extensive experience delivering substantial CIP programmes in a hospital environment.

Main duties of the job
1. Drive operational excellence and maximize the value and efficiency of resource utilization across the Trust and its five sites.
2. Lead the development and implementation of strategies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and optimize operational efficiency. Focus on identifying areas for improvement to support the Medium Term Financial Sustainability Plan, implementing best practices, and achieving cost efficiencies without compromising patient care quality.
3. Collaborate with partners across the Kent and Medway Integrated Care System and East Kent Health Care Partnership to achieve the best outcomes for patients and maximize value for money.
4. Support the CFO by demonstrating a supportive leadership approach, fostering great team working, and applying strong analytical and communication skills to explain opportunities and support delivery of improvements. Embed robust governance to support lasting change.
