JOB TITLE:Group Public Affairs – Senior Economist

SALARY: £78,098 - £109,060pa

LOCATION(S): Edinburgh, Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds, Halifax & London

HOURS:Full time– 35 hours per week

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in one of our office sites

We’re looking for an outstanding Senior Economist to join our Group Corporate Affairs function - widely recognised as one of the most effective and respected corporate affairs teams in the FTSE 100. This is a rare opportunity to help shape the future of public policy and political engagement at Lloyds Banking Group, as we expand our remit to work more closely with national,regionaland local governments to help Britain prosper.


This role will sit in the Group Public Affairs team and is ideal for someone with a strong background in applied economics and public policy.You’llbring a passion for using economic analysis and modelling to inform policy development, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to senior collaborators and political audiences.


WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

In this role you should expectto:

1. Providehigh-quality economic analysis and modelling to support the Group’s public policy and political engagement work. Your work willevidencethe case for positive policy change to governments and external collaborators.

2. Develop evidence-based insights on a wide range of strategic policy issues,including growth, housing,infrastructureand financial inclusion.

3. Work closely with policy leads to quantify the impact of proposed policy interventionsand develop compelling, evidence-based narratives to support advocacy and political engagement.

4. Produce briefings,reportsand presentations for senior leaders,including the Group Executive Committee and Board, to support external engagement.

5. Monitor, analyse and interpret government publications, including data and analysis,identifyingimplications for the Group’s public policy priorities.

6. Engage withexternal collaborators- including government departments, think tanks, and academic institutions - to share insights and build our reputation as credible, thoughtful leaders in public policy.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

We encourage applications from candidates with diverse experiences, however,in order tobe successful in this position we would need to seeclear evidenceof the below:

7. A strong academic background in economics or a related field,with applied practical experience in advising and / or building evidence to inform policy development in government, consultancy, or a research institution.

8. Proven ability to conduct economic modelling and quantitative analysis,and to translate findings into actionable policy recommendations.

9. Familiarity with UK political institutions and policy-making processes,and an interest in the role of private finance in addressing socio-economic opportunities and challenges.

10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills,with the ability to present complex economic ideas clearly and persuasively to non-technical audiences.

11. A collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset,with the ability to work across teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

12. Intellectual curiosity, political awareness, and a passion for making a difference- both for Lloyds Banking Group and the communities we serve.
