Job Description Are you a good communicator with a great eye for detail and looking for an opportunity to support key Scottish Government priorities? You will join the Customer Service Delivery team in Inverurie, who are part of the Rural and Inspections Division (RPID). RPID have around 600 staff in 17 area offices throughout Scotland providing a range of services. These teams manage the implementation of agricultural, environmental and rural policies, conduct inspections, process applications for funding and provide high quality customer service. This is a Modern Apprentice opportunity for two Administration Officers to join the team to provide support the business in a variety of duties including the delivery of high quality customer service for our farmers and customers, processing subsidies scheme grants and providing effective business support for the office. Throughout the first 12 months the successful candidate will be expected to gain a relevant Level 2 Business Administration SVQ qualification. Support will be provided by an internal assessor who will work with you on a monthly basis, and time will be made available for you to work on your qualification. We would encourage school/college leavers as this is an excellent opportunity to start your Civil Service career while also gaining an SVQ qualification. Responsibilities Dealing with telephone, written and face to face enquiries from both internal and external customers including assisting with registration and navigation of RPID's online systems. Reception Duty dealing with visitors to the office. General administrative duties, including filing, acknowledgement and onward processing of mail and franking outgoing post as well as maintaining spreadsheet information. Administrative processing in support of the Seed Potato Classification Scheme, including the preparation of documents for the export of Potatoes and Used Farm Machinery. Receipting, data capture, assessment and authorisations of applications and claims under a range of agricultural and environmental schemes. Using Rural Payments and Services and other IT systems, make assessments of information submitted on businesses and their applications, including data capture of information submitted. Providing efficient, effective and proactive support to the team. Working pattern Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role. From October 2025, the Scottish Government will require staff in hybrid-compatible roles to work in-person 40% of the time, either in an office or other agreed work location. If you have specific questions about the role you are applying for, please contact us. The Inverurie office follows The Scottish Government’s Hybrid Working Policy. However, due to the nature of the role, certain duties cannot be carried out from home and you may be required to attend the office more frequently. For the first 6 months of employment, or until you are fully trained, the expectation is for successful applicants to work 100% of the time in the Inverurie office. Security checks Successful candidates must complete the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), before they can be appointed. BPSS is comprised of four main pre-employment checks – Identity, Right to work, Employment History and a Criminal Record check (unspent convictions).
