Riversdale Surgery is looking to recruit a friendly, reliable and professional Phlebotomist to join our busy practice team. This patient‑facing role provides safe and efficient blood‑taking services to support clinicians in diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of patients.
The successful candidate will carry out venepuncture clinics, prepare and handle specimens correctly, maintain accurate records, and ensure a high standard of patient care at all times. They will work closely with nursing, administrative and clinical teams to support smooth daily services.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, a calm and caring manner, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy healthcare environment. Full training and ongoing support will be provided. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced phlebotomist or someone with relevant healthcare experience looking to develop within primary care.
Job responsibilities
* Undertake venepuncture for adult patients in line with training and competency standards.
* Correctly label, prepare and process blood samples for collection.
* Maintain accurate records on the clinical system (e.g. EMIS).
* Ensure infection prevention and control procedures are followed at all times.
* Safely dispose of sharps and clinical waste.
* Reassure and support patients who may be anxious or nervous.
* Report any concerns or incidents to senior staff promptly.
* Maintain stock levels of phlebotomy equipment and report shortages.
* Support the nursing and administrative teams as required.
* Perform ECG (if applicable).
Essential skills and experience
* Previous phlebotomy experience or recognised training.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Calm, caring and professional manner.
* Good attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
* Experience in primary care / GP setting.
* Knowledge of EMIS or similar clinical systems.
* Basic life support training.

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 8-4 per day
