Role Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen on Lyme Ward. We are looking to recruit a motivated, experienced, dynamic, forward-thinking professional seeking a new challenge as a Ward Sister/Charge nurse. Flexibility with days, nights, and weekends is required to join our team.
Lyme Ward is a highly specialist Colorectal surgical bedded ward offering post-operative care for Colorectal and Upper GI patients, as well as Cancer surgery. Our patient group includes elective, acute, high dependency post-ITU, and emergency cases.
The lead role involves driving clinical standards to ensure patient safety and experience, initiating and leading change, and managing ward operations. Responsibilities include ward coordination, team support, multidisciplinary meetings, and maintaining high standards of care. Management tasks such as sickness monitoring, appraisals, training, recruitment, and rostering are also part of the role.

The Sister/Charge Nurse provides clinical and managerial leadership, acting as a clinical expert and guiding the multidisciplinary team. The role involves reviewing patient records, evaluating care standards, and working with the team to improve outcomes. It includes providing feedback, mentorship, and playing a proactive role in quality and service improvement, including clinical audits.
Working Pattern: Shift work, including long days, nights, early shifts, lates, weekends, and public holidays.

Pay: The salary reflects Agenda for Change 5/6 rates, including a pay award to be implemented later this year. If joining before the award, backdated pay applies. Until then, pay is based on the 4/5 pay bandings (NHS Employers).
This is a fixed-term contract until //6. NHS employees may consider it as a secondment opportunity.
