Are you an experienced Buyer with a background in construction?
Our client, a well-established civil engineering contractor based near Exeter, is seeking a motivated Construction Buyer to join their growing commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in procurement for a range of infrastructure and groundworks projects across the South West.
Key Responsibilities
1. Managing the procurement of materials, plant, and subcontractor packages for multiple projects.
2. Building and maintaining strong supplier and subcontractor relationships.
3. Negotiating best value and ensuring timely delivery of materials to site.
4. Preparing and issuing purchase orders and procurement schedules.
5. Assisting project teams with cost reporting and budget control.
6. Supporting the development of sustainable procurement practices.
Requirements
7. Previous experience as a Buyer in the construction or civil engineering sector.
8. Strong negotiation and communication skills.
9. Good understanding of procurement processes and supply chain management.
10. Proficient in Microsoft Office and ideally experience with procurement software.
11. Full UK driving licence.
