The Fleet Workshop Supervisor is required to support the Fleet Workshop Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the ambulance fleet maintenance workshop. The Workshop Supervisor(s) ensures that vehicle servicing, repairs, and compliance checks are carried out efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards, enabling the fleet to remain operational and ready for emergency response.
Main duties of the job
Team Leadership & Supervision
· Supervise vehicle technicians and workshop administrators, ensuring clear communication and task delegation to ensure improved workshop efficiencies and workflow.
· Promote a positive team culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
· Support staff development through coaching and performance feedback.
· Conduct regular performance reviews and participate in the Personal Development Review (PDR) process for workshop staff.
Finance Oversight
· Assist the Fleet Workshop Manager in monitoring workshop-related expenses including labour, parts, and equipment.
· Support cost-effective use of resources and identify opportunities for savings.
Employee Appraisal (PDR)
· Report KPI trends and suggest improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency.
· Monitor daily and weekly KPIs to assess workshop performance.
KPI Monitoring
· Support cost-effective use of resources and identify opportunities for savings.
· Assist the Fleet Workshop Manager in monitoring workshop-related expenses including labour, parts, and equipment.
Workshop Operations
· Coordinate daily work schedules and job allocations to meet operational targets.
· Monitor workflow and ensure timely completion of maintenance and repair tasks.
· Ensure workshop areas are clean, safe, and well-equipped.
· Ensure parts and stock are correctly allocated to job cards during repairs.
Fleet Maintenance
· Assist in implementing a preventive maintenance program(s) and culture.
· Ensure vehicle servicing and repairs meet manufacturer and healthcare standards.
· Review and complete all vehicle maintenance documentation, checklists, and escalate issues to the Fleet Workshop Manager.
Compliance & Safety
· Enforce health and safety regulations and ensure DVSA roadworthiness standards.
· Conduct routine quality inspections and report safety concerns.
· Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
Customer Service
· Liaise with internal departments to coordinate vehicle availability and service needs.
· Address operational issues and escalate unresolved concerns to the Fleet Workshop Manager.
Performance Monitoring
· Track daily workshop performance metrics and contribute to KPI reporting.
· Identify areas for operational improvement and suggest solutions.

Essential criteria
* Extensive management and leadership experience in related field
* Recognised Professional Qualification
* In-depth knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair procedures,
Desirable criteria
* Experience of the emergency services sector
* Proficiency in using workshop management software and tools.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
