The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Workforce Planning and Development Team for a Workforce Planning and Development Assistant.

This is a critical role supporting a team of Advisors working across all Surrey divisions and departments and some collaborated teams. Reporting to the WFPD Consultant, you will be a strong team player with excellent communication, organisation and administrative skills.

Primarily the successful candidate will help with establishment control and management, probationer co-ordination and allocations, maintenance of detective and promotion pipelines, as well as responding to various queries and requests in the WFPD inbox. In addition, the successful applicant will manage all external secondments, ensuring that agreements are up to date, approving out of force expenses and maintaining personnel records such as temporary changes in pay and sickness records.

This is a fantastic development opportunity and introduction to resourcing and workforce planning. You will have opportunities to shadow meetings on divisions and engage with local Command Teams whilst gaining wider experience of policing and the role that People Services have in supporting day to day operations across the force.

Key Responsibilities

1. To engage with stakeholders and support the wider Workforce Planning team to provide a seamless approach to customer queries.
2. To collaboratively problem solve and make accurate judgements and decisions which ensure the most suitable service, and escalation to subject matter experts within People Services when appropriate through the appropriate channels (such as People Resolution Centre Consultants, Casework Team, People Performance, L&PD or other subject matter experts).
3. Responsible for proactive demand management of the Team inbox on a day-to-day basis, having a holistic awareness of team functionality and capacity.
4. Responsible for data integrity and establishment control ensuring systems regularly reconciled to the force budget and working collaboratively with finance.
5. Responsible for all officer and staff external secondments from Surrey. Performing the role of single point of contact both internally and to external agencies, and manage the implementation of new external secondments and existing agreements.
