You’ll provide expert accounting and tax compliance services, along with strategic tax planning advice, to farming families, estate owners, and rural entrepreneurs. Your work will span everything from succession planning and capital tax advice to business structuring and diversification support.

What you'll be doing day to day
1. Oversee the planning, preparation and completion of annual farm and rural business accounts and tax computations, as well as sole trade, partnership, company and trust accounts
2. Review of personal, trust and company tax computations and regular VAT returns
3. Prepare of IHT returns and CGT 60 day returns
4. Oversee client bookkeeping services and preparation of forecasts and projections
5. Undertake detailed analysis of income and expenditure to support decision making, planning and control
6. Identify financial, commercial and tax planning opportunities for clients
7. Ensure that accounting records for clients are maintained and kept up to date
8. Draft correspondence for clients; liaising with HMRC, by telephone and email
9. Provide varied administrative and business set-up services for clients
10. Exposure to various capital tax issues e.g. inheritance tax and capital gains tax
11. Network at county roadshows, farm walks or local cattle markets. Sharing knowledge and catching up with other rural teams across our southwest offices
12. Have opportunities to participate in meetings and visit clients on farm
About you
13. AAT ACA/ACCA qualified (or nearing qualification), or qualified by experience, with relevant experience in a similar role
14. Good technical knowledge of accounts preparation and tax compliance
15. Committed, logical and accurate, with a methodical approach to work and strong attention to detail
16. Experience in servicing different types of business entity
17. Experience in using accounts and tax return software
18. Able to work independently and demonstrate initiative in delivering an excellent service to clients
