The Student Engagement Officer is the first point of contact for students seeking advice and information. They Will work as an embedded and fully collaborative member of the Student Hub and Wellbeing Team, the post-holder will provide effective, professional guidance, advice and signposting to students. Providing appropriate guidance in a range of areas including enrolment and registration, financial support, disability and wellbeing concerns, course-related enquiries and general administrative matters, making onward referral to other parts of the Directorate, Schools or University as appropriate. The Nottingham campus is currently a 7-day operation meaning weekend working will be required.

Job Purpose

The Student Engagement Officer is the first point of contact for students seeking advice and information at Nottingham campus. They Will work as an embedded and fully collaborative member of the Student Hub and will provide effective, professional guidance, advice and signposting to students. Providing appropriate guidance in a range of areas including enrolment and registration, financial support, disability and wellbeing concerns, course-related enquiries and general administrative matters, making onward referral to other parts of the Directorate, Schools or University as appropriate.

Main Duties & Responsibilities Of The Role

* Provide positive, action orientated customer service as first point of contact for students
* Efficiently assess the student’s need(s) or issue(s) to enable appropriate onward referrals to other parts of the Directorate, Schools or University as appropriate.
* Provide appropriate advice, guidance and information in areas including (but not limited to); enrolment and registration, financial support, disability concerns, course-related enquiries and general administrative matters
* Disseminate a range of information and guidance materials available to students.
* Assist in the maintenance of appropriate records and information statistics in relation to the frontline service
* Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures relating to student and academic processes
* Work as a team to ensure that the Student Engagement Officer role is covered at all campuses
* Support the University during events and busy periods, including graduation, enrolment, clearing and Bucks Welcome.
* Support transition activities such as Bucks Welcome and co-ordination of joining instructions.
* Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR; Health and Safety; UKVI; and Equality and Diversity) in all working practices
* Such other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis, as may reasonably be required.
