An exciting secondment opportunity for a Band 7 High‑Risk Clinical Lead Podiatrist at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Job Summary
Post 0.6 WTE, 9‑month secondment, Band 7. The role is a high‑risk clinical lead specialising in high‑risk foot/ulcerated foot and is based in clinical and domiciliary settings. Only internal candidates currently working as a Specialist Band 6 Podiatrist or above will be considered.
Applicants should have an interest in complex high‑risk patients, advanced vascular assessment and treatment of ulcerated foot.
Applicants must be HCPC registered and hold a degree or diploma in Podiatric Medicine and a certificate for local anaesthesia.
Applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check; the cost (£26.40 standard, £54.40 enhanced) will be deducted from salary over the first two months of employment.
Applicants may enrol in the DBS Update Service; an annual fee of £16 applies.
Current Salary and Contract
Salary: £47,810 to £54,710 a year (pro rata for part‑time). Contract: Secondment, 0.6 WTE, part‑time, flexible working. Location: Park House and Social Centre, 61 Burton Road, Carlton, NG4 3DQ.
Responsibilities
* Provide high‑quality clinical care for diabetic patients in community and acute settings.
* Take clinical responsibility for caseload management and treatment of complex high‑risk cases.
* Manage work undertaken by podiatry staff and delegate clinical and domiciliary caseloads.
* Monitor and audit activity to adjust service needs; collaborate with Team Lead and Service Manager to create a learning culture.
* Provide assessment, diagnosis, care planning, management and evaluation of podiatric interventions; refer appropriately.
* Support placement of podiatry, AHP and other health‑profession students.
* Supervise and mentor podiatrists in rotations to maintain competency levels.
* Deliver foot‑health education and advice to staff, patients, relatives and carers; participate in training where appropriate.
* Follow departmental and Trust policies, procedures and guidelines; exercise professional judgment within established frameworks.
Person Specification – Qualifications
* BSc (or equivalent) in Podiatry.
* POM‑A Local Anaesthesia Certificate.
* POM‑S Sale and Supply Certificate.
* Registered with HCPC.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
* Post‑graduate qualification in diabetes and foot (e.g., MSc).
Person Specification – Experience
* Post‑graduate experience delivering diabetes and high‑risk foot assessment, management and complex wound care.
* Evidence of clinical development following qualification.
* Experience supervising/mentoring staff and clinical placement students.
* Experience working within an acute multidisciplinary diabetes team.
* Experience in audit and report writing.
* Significant post‑graduate NHS experience.
Person Specification – Knowledge & Skills
* Advanced knowledge of podiatric care for diabetes, wound care and vascular conditions.
* Ability to devise and implement specialised treatment regimes.
* Excellent communication skills, including with at‑risk patients and multidisciplinary teams.
* Strong organisational, prioritisation, and time‑management skills.
* Computer literacy in MS Office applications.
