Job Introduction
We have an exciting new apprenticeship here at Gleeson for those who are wanting to kick start their career in site management. Our Trainee Assistant Site Manager Apprenticeship is tailored for individuals who are looking for the next step in their career following some experience working on sites, such as labouring, qualified trades apprentices, FLTs, etc.
You will be supported and mentored by the Assistant Site Manager on site to show you the ropes and assist you in any aspects of the role. As a Trainee ASM Apprentice, you will support the site teams in the progression, quality, and innovation of Gleeson Homes. This involves coordinating all information from initial conception to full completion, ensuring properties are finished within the site programme and budget, while adhering to safe construction processes, NHBC standards, and building regulations.
Upon completing this apprenticeship, you will have gained an NVQ Level 4 in Construction Site Supervision and will be on your way to a career in Site Management.
Main Responsibilities
Working in collaboration with the Assistant Site Manager, responsibilities include:
* Understanding and implementing the company's health and safety policies.
* Ensuring health and safety requirements are met, including risk assessments and method statements.
* Pre-planning operations with the Build Manager and Site Manager, considering hazards.
* Monitoring and updating the health and safety plan.
* Establishing and maintaining welfare facilities on site.
* Managing site staff and subcontractors, liaising with head office and local authorities.
* Promoting safety, progress, quality, and innovation.
* Implementing recommendations from the Regional Health and Safety Advisor.
* Completing statutory inspections and reports.
* Leading by example in health and safety compliance.
* Providing feedback and activity reports.
* Maintaining first aid supplies and trained personnel.
* Reporting accidents and incidents according to procedures.
* Coordinating site activities safely and in line with schedules and budgets.
* Recording variations and measuring subcontractor work.
* Participating in training and maintaining administrative procedures.
Working Hours
* 39 hours per week
* Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm
* Friday 8am to 4pm
* Attendance at a local college for L4 Site Supervisor qualification (day release or other arrangements).
The Ideal Candidate
* 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C), including English and Maths.
* Experience on a construction site is preferred but not essential.
* Enjoys outdoor work.
* Physically capable.
* Willing to travel to site.
* Own transport is desirable.
