Role Overview
The role has a priority focus on supporting the process of child protection medicals undertaken by Community Paediatricians.
Responsibilities
* Chaperone children and young people during child protection medicals.
* Provide a caring and safe environment for babies, children and young people undergoing child protection medicals.
* Conduct medical observation clinics for Community Paediatric and ADHD patients, accurately recording observations and clinical notes.
* Respect the dignity and confidentiality of the child or young person at all times and support them to ensure the appointment is completed while meeting their needs.
* Take a flexible approach to workload, as child protection medicals often occur on short notice and primarily in the afternoon.
* Work collaboratively as part of the multi‑disciplinary team supporting colleagues in responding to requests for child protection medicals.
* Work across various locations on a flexible basis to respond to requests in a timely manner.
* Obtain prompt assistance during emergency situations.
* Raise concerns appropriately if concerned about a medical professional’s behaviour or actions.
* Support the Child Development Centres, service and Named Doctor for Safeguarding Children and Young People during periods when child protection medicals are not being carried out, including participation in ICPC and safeguarding audits, ensuring equipment is serviced, and bases have adequate supplies.
