Our Banking and Finance practice acts for banks, non-traditional lenders, public sector bodies and borrower clients in relation to a wide range of financing transactions.
The team are now looking for a talented lawyer to join them as a New Qualified or 1-year PQE in Leeds. With a strong rating in Chambers, and an enviable FTSE 250 client list, this is an excellent opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary banking practice with national and international reach.
So what will you be doing?
Working from our offices in Leeds, you will be part of our Leeds practice and a member of our national banking team. You will have the opportunity to work with great clients on high-value and complex transactions including international as well as domestic financings, re-financings and restructurings. One day you might be advising a lender on an investment property financing transaction with a borrower group based in multiple overseas jurisdictions, or working with a private equity investor on the financing aspects of a corporate acquisition. The next, you could be working with a client on debt restructuring or advising a public sector body in connection with a residential development transaction.
What does the ideal candidate look like?
You will be a newly qualified lawyer or with 1 year's experience and have good general banking transactional experience. You will pride yourself on your ability to work collaboratively to achieve results. You will have an analytical mind and enjoy the intellectual challenge that this work presents. Your pragmatism and commercial outlook, together with excellent drafting and organisational skills, will be vital in supporting our clients.
You will have an entrepreneurial spirit and be looking for a role that allows you to further develop your knowledge, expertise, and reputation. You will be keen to work closely with a partner and take an active part in developing client relationships to help build our regional and national businesses. You may be excited by the opportunity to align yourself with the team's specialist practice areas (corporate finance, real estate finance, asset finance, and public finance) and/or one or more of our sector groups.
You will want to take responsibility for running smaller matters yourself and be a key member of the wider transactional team working on larger financings. You will also be a personable team player, passionate about client service, and keen to be involved in business development initiatives. You are looking for a supportive environment where you can apply your skills and develop specialist expertise that will help advance your career.
To be successful in this role, you'll need as a minimum:
* NQ - 1 year post-qualification experience as a UK (England, Wales, or Scotland) Solicitor.
* Experience of good quality banking or finance work (or equivalent in-house experience).
* Proven black-letter drafting skills and analytical skills.
* The ability to deliver complex advice in a coherent and practical way that is easy for non-lawyers to understand.
