ABOUT SSR ROOFING

SSR Roofing is a specialist roofing and scaffolding contractor delivering high-quality services across the social housing and commercial sectors. With a strong reputation for reliability, safety, and customer service, we are proud to support communities across the North West. Following the launch of our dedicated Scaffolding Division, we are seeking experienced scaffolding operatives to join our growing team and help us deliver safe, compliant, and professional scaffolding services to our social housing clients.

THE ROLE

As an Advanced Scaffolder, you will be the senior operative within a three-person scaffolding team, working alongside a Part 1 Scaffolder and a COTS Labourer under the direction of our Scaffolding Manager. You will lead the erection, alteration, and dismantling of tube and fitting scaffold structures on reactive maintenance and planned works contracts across the social housing sector in and around the North West.

This is a hands-on, site-based role requiring a high standard of technical scaffolding knowledge, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work efficiently on a range of domestic and low-rise commercial properties. All work is carried out in compliance with TG20:21 and relevant Health and Safety legislation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Erect, alter, and dismantle tube and fitting scaffold structures to TG20:21 compliant designs, ensuring configurations are safe and fit for purpose prior to handover.
* Lead the three-person team on site, co-ordinating tasks efficiently and safely, and providing guidance and support to the Part 1 Scaffolder and COTS Labourer.
* Conduct pre-erection site surveys, assess ground conditions, anchor points, and access constraints, and communicate any issues to the Scaffolding Manager before work commences.
* Complete scaffold handover certificates and inspection records in accordance with NASC guidance and company procedure before any scaffold is handed over for use.
* Carry out formal scaffold inspections every seven days and following any adverse weather event, alteration, or incident, and maintain accurate written records.
* Conduct and record dynamic and static risk assessments on site, ensuring all RAMS documentation is understood by the full team before work begins.
* Maintain all equipment in a safe and serviceable condition; report any damaged, defective, or missing components to the Scaffolding Manager immediately.
* Liaise professionally with residents, housing officers, and site contacts, ensuring minimal disruption and a high standard of customer service throughout.
* Support the loading, unloading, and safe transport of scaffold materials in accordance with load securing requirements.
* Adhere to all SSR Roofing health and safety policies, PPE requirements, and site-specific rules at all times.

REQUIREMENTS

* Valid CISRS Advanced Scaffolder card (Part 2) — essential.
* Proven experience erecting tube and fitting scaffold to TG20:21 standards.
* Experience working within the social housing or reactive maintenance sector (preferred).
* Sound understanding of scaffold handover certification, inspection regimes, and NASC guidance.
* Comfortable working at height and in a range of weather and site conditions.
* Full UK driving licence (essential).
* Strong communication skills and the ability to represent SSR Roofing professionally with clients and residents.
* Ability to work independently and take responsibility for site safety in the absence of direct supervision.
