Senior Credit Controller (3-Month FTC, Potential to Extend)

Salary: £33,000 - £35,000 (DOE)
Hours: Full-time, Permanent after FTC potential
Reporting to: Group Financial Controller / CFO
Overview
I'm supporting a well-established group of businesses based in Borehamwood who are looking for an experienced Senior Credit Controller to join them on an initial three-month fixed-term assignment, with a strong chance of extension or a longer-term opportunity.
This is a great role for someone who enjoys taking full ownership of the credit function across multiple entities, working closely with senior stakeholders, and playing a key part in strengthening cash flow.
Role Purpose
You'll be responsible for managing the end-to-end credit control process across several group companies-monitoring risk, improving debt recovery, and ensuring strong financial controls are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Management
* Oversee credit control processes across multiple group entities
* Review and approve new customer credit applications
* Set and monitor credit limits in line with risk policies
* Keep customer accounts up to date and ensure adherence to payment terms
Collections & Dispute Handling
* Proactively chase overdue debts via phone and email
* Resolve invoice queries and payment discrepancies quickly
* Escalate challenging overdue accounts where appropriate
Reporting & Analysis
* Produce aged debt reports for senior finance leaders
* Highlight risk areas and recommend actions, including service suspension where necessary
* Maintain accurate records of customer communications and credit decisions
Collaboration & Compliance
* Work closely with sales, operations, service delivery, and account managers
* Ensure all processes follow internal controls and audit standards
* Support internal and external audit requirements
What You'll Need
Essential
* Strong background in credit control, ideally within a group or multi-entity environment
* Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills
* High attention to detail and ability to work autonomously
* Proficiency with Excel and accounting/ERP systems (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks)
