Handyperson – Warren Farm Lodge Birmingham

Contract: Permanent, part time.
Are you a hands-on problem solver who enjoys variety in your day? Anchor is looking for a dedicated Handyperson to help keep our properties and gardens well-maintained, safe, and welcoming for our residents.
About the Role:
As a Handyperson, you’ll be essential to maintaining a high-quality living environment, carrying out repairs, maintenance, and general gardening duties to keep our homes and outdoor spaces looking their best.
About Warren Farm Lodge:
Warren Farm Lodge in Kingstanding is a warm and welcoming care home, rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and proudly run by Anchor, a not-for-profit with over 60 years of experience. We offer high-quality residential and dementia care with a focus on personalised support, great food, and vibrant activities – all in a beautiful setting close to Birmingham city centre.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Carry out day-to-day repairs, maintenance tasks, and gardening duties
2. Ensure health and safety procedures are always followed
3. Keep documentation and maintenance records accurate and up to date
4. Help present empty rooms and shared areas to a high standard
5. Remove waste safely and ensure work areas are tidy
6. Use equipment and materials safely and responsibly
What We’re Looking For:
7. Experience in maintenance or gardening (both ideal!)
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
9. Practical problem-solving skills and good time management
10. Strong interpersonal skills with a caring, customer-first mindset
11. Knowledge of health & safety and safeguarding standards
12. Ability to maintain accurate records and follow procedures
Desirable:
13. Previous experience working in housing, care, or with older people
14. Customer Service Level 2 qualification (or willingness to work towards it)
