Overview
You'll be joining one of the UK's largest and most ambitious infrastructure projects and play a key role in delivering the next generation of low‑carbon nuclear power. Sizewell C is recruiting talented Project Managers to drive forward critical engineering, procurement and manufacturing activities within the Civil Works Alliance (CWA).
About The Role
As a Project Manager, you will lead the engineering progression and Civil construction sequence. A key priority is the replication of detailed design from Hinkley Point C (HPC), enabling standardisation, efficiency and assured delivery across the programme.
You will work closely with the SZC supply chain team, the Responsible Designer (RD), SZC Quality teams, and a wide network of suppliers to prepare for and execute the delivery phase. Working within an alliance structure, you will ensure seamless coordination across multiple disciplines, contractors and programme areas.
Key Responsibilities
Drive the delivery of engineering workstreams within the Civil Works Alliance.
Ensure maximum replication of HPC detailed design to reduce schedule and delivery risk.
Collaborate with supply chain, designers, quality teams and suppliers to secure delivery readiness.
Manage engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning activities to time, cost, quality and safety requirements.
Define work scope and manage interfaces with adjacent contracts, systems and programme elements.
Lead early engagement with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, resolve issues and drive innovation.
Oversee technical aspects of procurement, delivery methodologies and engineering change.
Ensure lessons learned, knowledge capture and replication of HPC good practice are embedded.
Develop and implement strategies aligned to the Programme Execution Plan (PEP).
Drive delivery, ensuring contractual requirements and technical specifications are fully met.
Programme Context
The Civil Works Programme Comprises a Series Of Major Projects Delivered Over a 10‑year Period, Forming The Civil Engineering Backbone Of The Sizewell C Plant. It Includes
Enabling & Earthworks
Sea defences, access infrastructure, site establishment works, diaphragm walling, dewatering, excavation and extensive earthworks.
Tunnelling & Marine Works
Construction of the beach landing facility, jetty, shafts and intake/outfall tunnels for the cooling water systems.
Main Civil Engineering
Technical galleries, cooling system pipework, foundation base slabs and over 70 major buildings across the Nuclear, Conventional and Heat Sink islands.
Successful delivery requires close integration with Site Establishment, Site Operations and the MEH (Mechanical, Electrical & Heating) Alliance.
Execution Strategy
Maximise replication of HPC design, limiting First‑of‑a‑Kind engineering to site‑specific elements.
Implement a programme management structure that supports simple, efficient delivery.
Apply learning from HPC to enhance productivity, working methods and site processes.
Intelligently replicate the HPC supply chain to minimise risk and reduce mobilisation timelines.
Operate within an alliance model that embeds collaborative behaviours and shared success.
Principal Accountabilities
The Project Manager will:
Lead interfaces with the Engineering and Technical teams to ensure timely design delivery and incorporation of HPC lessons learned.
Manage engineering studies by the RD and contractors, ensuring outputs meet SZC requirements.
Drive implementation of SZC site‑specific design changes, including updates to contract specifications.
Oversee technical elements of procurement and delivery methodologies for civil works.
Coordinate internal and external interfaces to ensure an integrated design and delivery approach.
Support change governance and lead optimisation across the programme.
Review and assure LOD 0 technical deliverables for the Nuclear Island scope.
Work within a matrix organisation with regular interaction with EDF (France) and the SZC Site Construction Team.
Nuclear Safety Accountabilities
This post may include nuclear safety and environmental responsibilities as detailed in the Nuclear and Environmental Baseline. The role holder must ensure that all activities reflect a strong safety culture and comply with all regulatory requirements.

Additional Information
Join the team at Sizewell C. Our vision is to Lead The Way On Nuclear.
The Sizewell C team is one of the most exciting and largest new megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK's climate change agenda and energy policy. We have begun constructing a 3.2-gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast in the East of England replicating, wherever possible, the design used for Hinkley Point C, another nuclear power station being built in Somerset.
When built, Sizewell C will be one of the largest power stations to operate in the UK. The power station will generate low carbon electricity for at least 60 years, supplying over 6 million homes and supporting around 7% of the UK's current electricity needs.
Our vision is to Lead The Way On Nuclear. We want Sizewell C to define what good leadership for the nuclear industry and British infrastructure looks like and deliver on it. We understand the feats of organisation, logistics, collaboration and imagination that building nuclear requires. We are building for the next generation for their home-grown energy, energy price stability and ultra-low carbon power in abundance. We also want to set the benchmark for maximising long-lasting social value as we build and demonstrate how smart collaboration can work for the benefit of communities – locally, regionally and nationally.
We are the first nuclear power station in the UK to be funded under the Regulated Asset Base funding model (RAB). Our largest shareholder is the UK Government, alongside equity partners La Caisse, Centrica, EDF and Amber Infrastructure.
Sizewell C operates within a complex and fast-moving stakeholder environment, engaging with a wide range of partners including government bodies, regulators, local communities, supply chain partners, and international collaborators. This makes Sizewell C a uniquely stimulating place to work — where navigating evolving priorities, balancing interests, and building trusted relationships is just as critical as technical excellence. For those who thrive in dynamic, multi-dimensional settings, it offers unmatched professional challenge and growth.
When joining Sizewell C, you may wonder why you are contacted by colleagues with an EDF email or see the EDF logo on portals that you access and/or documentation you receive; this is because we have partnered with EDF for the provision of a number of support services whilst we complete a successful transition out of the EDF group.
At Sizewell C we encourage and embrace diversity and how it can improve our experience and performance at work. It is a requirement that those who join us have the right to work in the UK. Whilst sponsorship may be a possibility that we can explore, we are fully committed to local recruitment where possible, and those already holding the right to work in the UK.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
By submitting an application to this role, you acknowledge that you have read and understood Sizewell C's employee privacy policy and EDF's employee privacy policy. Just to let you know, EDF will be processing and sharing information about your application on behalf of Sizewell C.
