Consultant in Medical Oncology with a Breast subspecialty – London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust, primarily at Northwick Park Hospital.
Overview
The role is a substantive, full‑time post with 10 programmed activities (PAs), negotiable at interview. The successful candidate will provide high‑quality, patient‑centred care across a range of oncology services, with a primary focus on breast cancer. They will also have the opportunity to develop a special interest within the breast tumour site and contribute to service development in line with Trust priorities.
Responsibilities
* Breast Oncology & General Medical Oncology Duties – Provide specialist care for patients with breast cancer, including assessment, treatment planning and ongoing management.
* Support the Acute Oncology Service (AOS), ensuring timely, high‑quality care for patients admitted with cancer‑related complications.
* Collaborate effectively with CNS teams, chemotherapy nursing staff, and multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver coordinated care across all sites.
* Review systemic anti‑cancer therapy (SACT) prescriptions, assess patients for treatment and contribute to clinical trials activity.
* Provide on‑site clinical support to the Chemotherapy Suite and Clinical Trials Unit when required.
* Actively participate in the weekly Breast MDT and other relevant tumour‑site meetings.
* Work closely with surgical, radiology, pathology, and allied health colleagues to deliver seamless, evidence‑based cancer pathways.
* Support the training, supervision and appraisal of junior medical staff, Trust doctors and non‑consultant grades.
* Participate in recruitment processes for junior staff, as delegated.
* Promote a high‑quality learning environment and contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
