Contract: Essex Highways

Contract Type: 8 Month FTC
Ringway Jacobs is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Engineer to join our busy Member Highways Initiative team. You'll support the delivery of maintenance programmes in line with County Council policies and play a key role in managing operations, mentoring technicians, and ensuring high-quality service to our councillors.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you'll help lead the team responsible for investigating, designing, and delivering works programmes—coordinating with supply chain partners, consultants, and key stakeholders to ensure cost-effective solutions. The role also involves occasional engagement with elected members, district councils, and strategic partners.
The Role
* Managing a team.
* Working with the programme team to ensure that productivity levels remain high.
* Undertake Audits on the team to ensure process is being followed.
* To provide a first-class service to our customers, completing a high standard of maintenance to the highway network, helping to ensure that all maintenance activities are delivered in accordance with the strategies and policies of the County Council and Essex Highways.
* To risk assess and develop job information based on councillors requests.
Job Description
About You
* Managing Skills
* HNC, A-level education or equivalent qualification, or demonstrable experience in Highway civil engineering.
* To be mobile throughout an operational area (or throughout Essex) and therefore a valid driving licence is required.
* Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
* Conversant with Microsoft applications– Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint
