Job title: SHE Advisor – Occupational Hygienist
Location: Barrow-in-Furness. Onsite
Salary: Circa £44,000
What you’ll be doing:
* Designing and planning sampling strategies to obtain robust estimates of personal exposure for comparison with Workplace Exposure Limits in line with the Boat programme
* Monitoring the work environment ensuring workplace controls are suitable
* Analysing levels of hazardous agents and identifying appropriate engineering control measures and personal protective equipment
* Collaborate with key stakeholders, influencing them to appropriately consider hierarchy of controls during decision making, i.e. supporting to design systems and processes for handling hazardous materials
* Investigating and solving ill-health reports and supporting any actions resulting from the investigation
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
* Ability to apply the underlying principles of occupational hygiene
* 6 British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) learning record examples in occupational hygiene (4 core and 2 optional)
* NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
Desirable:
* Science based degree, such as Biology, Physics or Chemistry
* Master’s in occupational Hygiene

The Occupational Hygiene team:
As an Occupational Advisor, you will be part of a collaborative and supportive team within the Occupational Health Department. You will be supporting on the most exciting engineering programmes in the UK, providing professional SHE advice to ensure safe construction and delivery of Nuclear Submarines. We offer relocation support across all Submarine roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria
